Job Creation Partnership

Posted on 15 Nov 2017 in General, Uncategorized | 0 comments

BLT and the MakerSpace are proud to announce that we have just launched a Federal and Provincially supported work experience and job skills development project under the JCP banner, through the Ministry of Social Development & Poverty Reduction and working with the Parksville Careers Centre. This will provide a work and learning environment for two qualifying job-seekers and bring a very valuable focus to the further development of the Oceanside Community Makerspace.

The main focus of work to be carried our during the 30 month project, would be to develop a local business and individual skills and contacts database and develop a number of training courses in the realm of STEM topics (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). We very much look forward to selecting our two participants and having them become valued members of the BLT and MakerSpace community. I hope you will welcome them and give them all your support.

So, after 3 months of project prep work, we now have a signed tenancy agreement with the InclusionPV to use 133 McMillan Street (lower floor), Parksville, as the location for the Oceanside Community Makerspace. We get access from the 1 June 2017 and plan to have some kind of open day session at the same time as the McMillan Art Centre on Canada Day – 1 July.
